Taboo cards can be a very cool teaching resource which you can use to encourage your students to practise speaking. Apart from revising loads of vocab, your students will have to use different phrases to explain what a particular card shows. The Taboo Cards Pack below consists of 198 cards with lots of words from different categories. Scroll down to learn more about the cards.
Each taboo card is colourful and contains a picture. The pictures are to help kids understand the meaning of the words that they need to explain. Each card also contains four words which cannot be used while playing. The vocabulary ranges from food to festivals. Here’s a list of the vocabulary the cards include: farm animals, wild animals, insects, fruit, vegetables, sweets, fast food, school equipment, places in town, household objects, jobs, everyday activities, hobbies, Christmas vocabulary, Easter vocabulary, Halloween vocabulary and much more.
Depending on the level of my students, I sometimes allow them to use one or two of the taboo words to make the game a bit easier and more fun to play.
One more thing, the cards contain vocabulary in the singular so that students can practise irregular plural nouns.
You can see a few photos of the cards below. I think the cards’ format is pretty neat 🙂
You can download 36 of the taboo cards for free to test them out. Just click here.
I hope you see the cards’ potential and decide to buy them for $1. If you do, you’ll receive a pdf version of the taboo cards within 8 hours although it takes this long only when I sleep at night 🙂 More often than not, I send all the resources I sell within 1 hour or less.
IMPORTANT! An email from me might end up in your spam folder so make sure to check it too.
